Filed under: Theft/Fraud — Law Offices of Billy Skinner @ 6:42 pm

A woman stole a credit card from a real estate agent on Wednesday after posing as a potential home buyer.

Lakeshia Champ entered the home and asked the Realtor for something to drink.  Afterwards, Champ said suddenly had to leave.  The realtor thought she was being suspicious so she checked her purse and found that her wallet was missing.

After cancelling her credit cards, the suspect was found trying to use one of the cards at a local liquor store.  The surveillance cameras caught Champ using the stolen card and the real estate agent confirmed her identity.

This was the third time champ had been arrested for credit card abuse, a felony.  Champ posted bail and is currently not in custody.

Cannabis: Why Such Stigma?

Although my top priority as a Marijuana Attorney in Houston, is to fight for individuals who are charged with crimes involving the possession or cultivation of Marijuana, I am also a proponent of the legalization of Marijuana.

Obviously there is very little “logic” to substantiate Marijuana being illegal. However, there is plenty of “emotion” involved on the side of folks who believe marijuana is a horrible substance used only for recreation, and a “gateway” drug that leads to a world full of non-functioning addicts who are a blight on society.

For me, the real irony in the discussion of the legalization of Marijuana in America is that we live in a Country where alcohol flows down our streets and produces more than $100 billion per year in sales. And I will not even begin to discuss the number of people in America addicted to prescription medications.  Or cigarettes.

My point is, for the marijuana revolution to really take hold, we need to work on the perception of marijuana. This article from SmartPlanet discusses the stigma associated with marijuana and a possible “behind the scenes motivation” for keeping marijuana illegal.

I simply ask anyone who reads this post to take a real look into the benefits of marijuana from an objective stand point. Don’t let perception fool you.

Angleton High School Drug Arrests

According to this news report on khou.com 10 Angelton High School students have been arrested for selling marijuana and prescription medications at school.

The interesting fact of these arrests is that an UNDERCOVER officer had been posing as a High School student since the beginning of the school year. Must have been hard for the UNDERCOVER officer to explain how he, or she, wasn’t interested in any girls, or guys, but was interested in buying pot or pills.

Clearly the government is onto the real drug kingpins. I’m sure these efforts have really uncovered some criminal masterminds.

Another giant waste of tax dollars.
